  • RideLondon-Surrey 100 arrives at Chiswick Bridge at 6:44am on Sunday August 4 2013 after a glorious sunrise just over an hour before. The first group was followed by waves and waves of cyclists still going strong when I left some 50 minutes later with 20,000 riders in all taking part ahead of the professionals later in the day.

In celebration of the birth just under 24 hours earlier of a son to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Six field guns fired the salute in ten second intervals.

Seen here over Myrtle Avenue in Hounslow just a few seconds before touchdown on runway 27L. A landmark event - the first UK carrier to operate the Airbus superjumbo which now becomes BA’s flagship aircraft, taking over from the Boeing 747-400. The A380 is the world’s largest passenger jet, carrying more than 500 passengers.

  • Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious sails through the Thames Barrier just before 11:30am on Wednesday May 8 2013, then under the Emirates Air Line (Cable Car) and past the North Greenwich O2 Arena en route to a berth at Greenwich. Known as "Lusty", the ship is one of three in the capital for events to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic.
